Colour Meditation For Creating New
Patterns
‘In finding the
inner discipline to take responsibility we find true freedom.’
Colour is light and is therefore the source of life. As part of the
spectrum of natural energies emanating from the sun, colour
surrounds us. We are constantly under its influence whether we know
it or not. It interacts with our own energies and has been used
since early times to heal. We not only see it with our eyes open, we
can see it with our eyes shut. Those with impaired vision are
equally receptive to these energies. It is a vibration. Our eyes are
the entry points. Our body and mind are challenged on an energy
level to reawaken, imparting the tools we need for our physical,
emotional, mental and spiritual development. Colour can gently
unlock the deeper nature of emotional, mental and physical
imbalances. It assists the body to heal itself.
‘Fifty Years ago a very respected healer in Victoria outlined a way
to help drug users. It was not made public but with the passing of
time and the increase in drug addiction, it is now felt all
available methods must be considered.’ This was quoted in Phil
Reading’s books, ‘Glimpses of Spiritual Healing’ and ‘Glimpses of
the Unseen’ as part of a colour therapy for drug addiction.
Amazingly, a few years prior to this, I had created some paintings
at a time when I was living with a man who was abusing alcohol and
also at a time when I was trying to move on from my obsession
(addiction) with trying to help him. It was not until two years
later when I read Phil Reading’s book that I made the connection –
the colours in my paintings were the same as the colours used by
this healer! Was I tuning in to the colours required for our
healing? I had been working with and researching these qualities of
colour for a long time!
We think of addictive behaviour as substance abuse but it also
includes any behaviour or belief that is destructive to ourselves or
others, whether we are an addict or are enabling an addict by
supporting the addiction to keep the peace, rescuing others to the
detriment of ourselves, blaming a person or something else for the
way we are, taking on others’ problems rather than looking at our
own, carrying guilt, envy, arrogance, anxiety, anger or resentments,
feeling needy with cravings, desire or yearnings; any behaviour or
belief where we are not taking responsibility or facing our shadow
prevents us from feeling fully empowered and from finding the
freedom and peace within. As misguided seekers we are simply looking
outside ourselves rather than in.
Once these patterns of thought or behaviour have been brought to our
awareness and the decision to break these has been made the enclosed
six prints of the paintings and the colour meditation on the CD work
together as a bridge to support the will. The meditation helps us
move through the behaviour or belief consciously and gently through
colour and affirmation, releasing the fears that are associated with
all ‘addiction’. It doesn’t mean our lives are free of challenges,
but in making this choice of self-empowerment it means we have taken
responsibility for these challenges and our health on all levels –
physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. They are all
energetically connected. The colours (in the images AND in the after
images seen with closed eyes) gently vibrate and resonate with the
energy centres within the body to help them flow and create the
shifts in awareness necessary to move us to a state of balance.
Making the healing ‘visible’ helps us to take responsibility for our
own healing, not just relying on the practitioner. It may be an
easier and more suitable form of meditation for more serious
addictions, a way to balance the mind and the emotions with the eyes
open.
Equally, this meditation is expressed in such a way to be useful for
any of us wishing to create new patterns, new ways of seeing or
doing things or changing unhelpful thoughts and beliefs - for anyone
seeking to free themselves in this way. The colours and affirmations
gently guide us to embrace new ways that are in accordance with our
deep knowing of the perfection of our unique life’s experiences.
